The Flood (Seeress)
13:30
|
|||
I have walked to the ends of the world
Slain giants, watched empires fall
Forever searching for an edge
Of a chasm that never comes
Great gnarled trees scrape the sky
Needles of pine impale the clouds
A faint song, drifting through the mire
My Seeress, my eternal fire
The whole world in front of me
Seen through a mirror cracked
Distorted themes, shattered lives
Swept away by her song
These stones still standing
Mark out where graves lie deep
She sings for us, strewn and weak
She sings the lies beneath
Blood-soaked and empty
Crawling over bodies, forlorn
Roots will bind me to this place
And stones will crack my skull to be reborn
In silence I fled
The carrion circled and feasted upon the dead
The dirt I claw through
Will always be too deep
My nails will splinter, my soul will bleed
And still I’ll be no closer to you

Another fades into the breeze
Another falls onto his knees
Another body commits itself, duly interred
With one last breath, another crows beneath the earth
Those hollow words echo, Fragile birds to Death’s sickle
Too weak now, the thorns impale, my spirit weak, embrace the veil
Drink wine with me, oh gracious host
And warm my blood as I fall in love with ghosts
Content to be asleep with thee
“Let my corpse entwine the roots of the tree that binds us here
to this place, alone. Yet carved in time, like waves upon the stones.
May my bones create an endless web of knotted branches
once I am dead, to travel through the root and bough,
and finally find that peace somehow.”
Saplings invade my veins, spreading throughout
All consciousness leaves in vain and hope replaces doubt
I know I’ve found my rest in this vernal tomb
Free to embrace rebirth from her summer womb
Her song, more distant now, the fires fade
The memories of her words in my mind replayed
Granting a spark of hope, soothing melodies
Guiding my wretched soul to thee
But now betrayed, no end in sight
No song, no melody, lost in endless plight
Her form fades, motes of dust swirl in vaporous lies
I stumbled into dusk
Great gnarled trees scrape the sky
Needles of pine impale the clouds
Ancient, revered - my Seeress, my funeral shroud

Quietude
02:01
|
|||
I’ve scaled the mountains, I’ve dredged the seas
But nothing compares to this love of years
|
||||
4. |
||||
Standing upon a vast plateau
In the bleak darkness, lost
One million points of celestial light
Nothing but a sea of stars, so bright
My fear so great
Hearts stop and lights go out
One by one, stars die
And my tears fall into the sky
My body will split apart
And fill the silence between the stars
Her deathly silence washes over me
A familiar, long-lost mourning
No stars left in the sky tonight
No sound, no strength, no feeling

The Drought (Weavess)
12:39
|
|||
The night finally breaks way to sun
The ground awash with blood, no battles won
The fighting fierce, yet led to nought
A thousand bodies of families frought
The ends of life ebbing away
No verdant existence, just waves of decay
Pyres burning bright, the stench of death
The flames comsume Earth’s straining breath
As day returns to night the black snuffs out the stars
Atmospheric pitch suffocates
The emptiness creates a stifling wreath of scars
Adorn my flesh, a diadem of hate
Weavess arranging fates that we are hopeless to resist
Our futures tirelessly consumed
There’s nothing left but to accept that we are bled and lost
The world one empty, dusted tomb
Vestiges of light ebbed away
Brights skies fade to an endless grey
Crimson and silver merge below
My lonely cries a lost echo
Darkness swallows me, no lights above
Drifting alone and scared
I barely hear her song, so distant now
No greater pain in life than a loss recurred
Endless remorse
Hopeless persuit
Fading away, away from me
Save me from myself
Save me
