Seed of a Giant Tree

This world is finally due an end
The plague of man erased from the land
To purge the virus from the host
And recreate a body for the ghost
No pity as these empires fall
Leaders drowning in the swill of lies
They cast into the ears of man
Ignite the planet, turn this world to sand
Entwined in roots the dragon stirs
And Nature grasps All-Father's last
His slow ascent in flames, dire
The earth becomes a funeral pyre
From Ymir's flesh the earth is made
And from his blood the sea
Mountains from his bones, trees from his hair
And from his skull the sky
The seed of old has been misplaced
As the stream of the void runs black
With the blood of the jealous ones
Who listened not to what has passed
Entwined in roots the dragon stirs
And Nature grasps All-Father's last
His slow ascent in flames, dire
The earth becomes a funeral pyre
The light turns black
Land sinks into the sea
The bright stars vanish into the sky
Hot flame plays high
Against Heaven itself

Ginnungagap
07:04
|
|

To begin, there was lust
Rapturous, unbridled
Time stopped and yet the world spun
An empty void forgotten
As time passed, wounds healed
A life started to take root
Blood flowed in once-dry veins
Two worlds collided in one room
The world grew
Lights shone bright
Days gave way to enamoured nights
A love shared
Beliefs swollen
Fervour reached it's height
Then death
Hearts broke
The void inside her woke
Worlds break
Tears fall
Cries of sorrow haunt her halls
And then she fell
To be caught
Inside the hurt that fate had wrought
Creeping darkness; infectious
No place for this weakened man
Time stalled again
She broke free of the void
And he fell forevermore
Without her
The abyss expanded
And took him in like a son
She drifted away into the black
He could no longer follow
Tears became as ice, froze his skin
And at last the void
Consumed his light within

High in the branches of the world
A raven black
Darkness creeping in
The stag gnaws, the fires burn
Thought and Wisdom yet to return
The snake begins it's song
The ash suffers agony
More than men know
and Nidhogg rends it beneath
A writhing in the roots below
A signal of the doom to come
Scale-ripped bark falls to nothing
The snake continues it's song
Nine days, nine nights
Swinging from branches white
Ash and blood, a sacrifice
The serpent's scales around The One to die

Winter's Father

OH! I call myself Grim
A man borne of wisdoms clear
Too long have I slept in silence
The frost now creeps into the year
OH! The boughs will bend and break
Ice will root over the land
The wind will take your breath and make a prison of your lungs
And the blood of millions will slake my hands
The air grows colder
The waters freeze in place
The crops will falter, wells will dry
Another thousand years will make you realise your place
A thousand winters, millions die
Winter's Father
No escape from the biting of the chill
Your fingertips will shatter
His name is Winter and he will be the end of your days
Your kin will weep upon his altar
Winter's Father
OH! A blanket of smothering night
Stars seem to blink out their light
Heartbeats will begin to slow
Your bodies lost in eternal snow
Sleep now...

From the end of
seasons, a new fire burns.
The Wolf Garden was created from the ruins of the old world in 2016, inspired by the natural beauty of rural England and their ties to Old Norse culture.
They create haunting and brutal black metal, weaving folk tales and apocalyptic prophecy into a mournfully beautiful vision.
